MACTA Board Authorizes Special Recognition for Rollie Morud

The MACTA Board at their August meeting unanimously ag= reed that Rollie Morud, = Minnesota Assistant Commissioner of Education, receive special recognition at the MACTA awards luncheon on Thursday, October 6, 2005<= /st1:date> at Kavanaugh’s Resort, B= rainerd, Minnesota.

Since assuming the Assistant Commissioner position, Ro= llie has been a strong supporter of Career and Technical Education.  He readily agreed to be a keynote speaker at one of our MACTA conferences after just being named to the post.  Rollie has kept abreast= of the federal Carl Perkins funding and is concerned about how the dollars wil= l be allocated under the new Perkins Act.  In the last legislative session Rollie pushed for funding for middle school technology labs and continued his support of the CTE levy.  When the hold harmless clause was = left out of the new CTE levy, Rollie quickly intervened and worked with Tom Melc= her to have the hold harmless clause reinstated.

Probably most important for those of us working in the= CTE field, Rollie is readily available to work with us on a day to day basis to improve CTE programming in the state of Minnesota.  We have requested a number of meet= ings to discuss CTE issues with Rollie and he has always been positive and responsive.  You can quickly t= ell when meeting with Rollie that he cares about the CTE field and the students= who thrive in the CTE environment.

Congratulations to Rollie Morud on receiving this MACTA special recognition award in support of Career and Technical Education.  When you see Rollie, please congra= tulate him on the award and thank him for what he does in support of Career and Technical Education.
